SHIRLEY'S POEM

I wrote a poem when I was in high school and I asked Ms. Shouse if she would read it and make corrections or offer some suggestions. She read it and seemed to like it as written but said she would like to have Ms. Neville read it. She said if Ms. Neville thought it needed it, she would make corrections or offer some suggestions.

This is the note Ms. Neville wrote after reading it.  I have always treasured what she wrote.

Here is Shirley's Poem

With a prayer I start each day,
And ask God’s guidance along the way.
I want his light to shine through me,
That souls may be saved when it they see.

My goal in life is to attain many friends,
And to help lost souls to make amends.
To always be kind, thoughtful and true,
To make people happy and gain courage anew.

THE MISSING CLARINET

Another memory I have was when someone stole my clarinet out of my locker.  I told Mr. Powell about it and he was very concerned and really nice to me. He said he would do his best to find it.

I smiled and thanked him. He then told me to keep smiling. Everything would be fine.

I don’t know how he found it, but he did and I was very grateful.
